Official: Yashili Formula Has No Quality Problem

THE death of a two-month-old baby in eastern China became more mysterious as investigation results supported a claim that the Chinese-made milk powder he drank was safe.

Test results confirmed that the milk formula made by Yashili Group has no quality problems, the deputy head of the industrial and commercial administration of Changxing County of Huzhou City in Zhejiang Province told the Oriental Morning Post.

A statement issued by Yashili over the weekend said the company has strict rules to ensure everything was safe.

But the family of the deceased baby Li Junjie said they still have a couple of questions about the test procedures and reserved their opinions. The victim's grandfather, Li Zhengshan, bought a pack of Yashili on January 3 and fed the baby that morning. The infant became ill and was sent to hospital the next morning but was dead on arrival.
