Student put rat poison in water, poisoned 11
A MIDDLE school student intending to revenge peers who had tricked him put rat poison into water, poisoning 11 fellows in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The victims was treated in a local hospital and most are in stable condition except one who is still in severe condition and has been transferred to a hospital in Yunnan's capital city Kunming, today's Chuncheng Evening News reported.
A student surnamed Liu with Yanglin Town No. 1 Middle School in Kunming's Chongming County happened to find rat poison hidden in the bed of a peer surnamed Dong.
Learning Dong's plot to use the poison to revenge peers who had tricked him, Liu thought of his own experience of being tricked and decided to carry out the revenge adventure for himself, Liu allegedly told police.
He put the poison into water later that day and rubbed some poison to two towerls of other students'.
Eleven students returning to their dorms after night study used the contaminated water to make noodles soon developed the same symptoms of vomiting, headache and coma.
The victims were soon sent to the Chongming County People's Hospital, where doctors said they had been food poisoned.
Police are still investigating.
