Hubei school official kisses pig to keep promise to students

A VICE principal at an elementary school in central China’s Hubei Province kissed his way into a porcine spotlight by kissing a pig to fulfill a promise made to his students weeks ago, Southern Metropolis Daily reported today.
Hong Yaoming, the 47-year-old vice principal of Xianning Experimental Primary School, kissed the porker at a flag raising ceremony yesterday morning. Hong promised the students weeks ago that he would kiss a pig so long as they stopped littering on the road in front of the school gate. The sanitary conditions of the road have been greatly improved since he made the promise, according to the report.
The pictures of Hong kissing the pig were posted yesterday on a Sina Weibo microblog, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter. Hong is the blogger’s Chinese teacher. The blogger appreciated him as a man of his word.
The pig weighed about 20 to 25 kilograms as can be seen in the picture. The students laughed and shouted with awe at the ceremony yesterday, and several young teachers also photographed the scene, according to a 19-second video posted online.
