Montenegro lightning strike injures Polish ambassador

DOCTORS say Poland's ambassador to Montenegro has been injured and one person has died after they were struck by lightning during a mountain-climbing expedition.

Doctors said Monday that ambassador Jaroslaw Lindenberg was diagnosed with a broken arm and burns when admitted to a hospital in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica late on Sunday.

No one was available for comment at the Polish embassy in Podgorica.

Local media say that the ambassador was in a group of 11 people who set off to climb a mountain peak in central Montenegro. They say the lightning killed Montenegrin climber Andrej Tomovic and injured the ambassador and another person.
