Water park raises eyebrows with bikini lifeguards

A water amusement park in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province is offering high pays, about three times the city's average salary, to attract female lifeguards, with one condition though: they must wear bikini on duty.

Its job ad has stirred controversy with some people condemning it as vulgar while others, all males, cheering that they can't wait to be saved by bikini-clad lifeguards.

New Express Daily, a local newspaper, said the park intended to recruit 10 female lifeguards and pay each of them 10,000 yuan a month.

Most Chinese swimming pool lifeguards are male professionals. The practice of hiring bikini girls as lifeguards has never been heard of in China.
