Indian citizen gives thumbs up to Chinese hand surgery and care

I'M an Indian national working for AEE (Australia) as a consultant at Hailu Boilers, Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province. I have been here since October 2008

Last month I developed numbness in my left palm and went for medical consultation at the No. 1 People's Hospital, Zhangjiagang.

Utmost care was taken by all the concerned staff in the hospital and after undergoing all medical tests, a doctor advised immediate surgery.

I sent all test reports to my cousin in India, Dr Hyagriva, who is a leading neuro surgeon in KGH, Vishakhapatna. He concurred with the diagnosis of Dr Liu Zongbao, the Chinese surgeon.

The operation was performed on December 27 and was very successful.

Within 24 hours I regained 70 percent of lost strength of my palm. My condition is constantly improving.

I am possibly the one and only Indian in this city where language and communication should have been a major problem even for normal day-to-day professional and personal activities.

But, only due to the love, affection and care bestowed upon me by the people here, I had no difficulty in undergoing the surgery.

I would like to place on the record my very special thanks and gratitude for the very special care given by the Chinese doctors, my Chinese colleagues, and most important, the local people.

I would be considered an ungrateful person if I would not thank the local Chinese press, who inquired about my well being and expressed wishes for my speedy recovery.

I will go back to India next week with a fond memory of Chinese people and their affection.
