Corrupt cops pass overloaded trucks

TO crack down on overloaded vehicles, Zhengzhou City has set up several checkpoints, but the practice has turned into a lucrative business since some sites are toll stations where offenders can buy monthly passes.

One truck driver claimed he would be immune from fines if he pays 1,200 yuan (US$190) per month, according to a China National Radio report about the issue in the capital of Henan Province.

Obviously, the special weighing and monitoring sites have become toll stations. Thus, a flood of overloaded vehicles is allowed to hit the road with impunity. The extra weight weakens bridges and highways, causing damage and breaks as well as traffic accidents.

We warn law enforcement authorities against abusing power and collecting a fortune.

Widely panned urban management administrators turn a blind eye to illegal construction after taking bribes from rich builders, but they beat up unlicensed and poor vendors, which fuels social conflict and resentment.

Such scandalous actions cause a public outcry, upset social harmony and ruin government credibility.

It's urgent to correct this misconduct and apprehend lawbreakers
