Rescued swimmers abandon hero
ON July 3, three people from one family cried for help as they swam in a park river in Loudi City, Hunan Province.
Answering the call, a young passerby jumped in and rescued all three, but was drowned himself. According to witnesses, the family of the three rescued swimmers immediately left the scene.
When stopped by the gathering crowd to wait until the hero emerged, one of the three rescued swimmers dared to say: "What the hell has this to do with me?!"
How difficult is it to say "thank you"? Is it because that the family of three worried about potential compensation to the family of the deceased hero?
If this is the case, our societal system of civil remedies leaves much to be desired.
