Best circus acts from around the world
CLOWNS, fire eaters, trapeze artists, lions, tigers and other animals will entertain visitors in the Qingdao International Circus Culture Festival through October 7.
Top circus acts from around the world are staging daily in the city's Huiquan Plaza.
Award-winning circus artists and groups from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will join Chinese acrobats and others performers to present brilliant shows of both European circus art and traditional Chinese acrobatics.
Yu Jinsheng, acclaimed as the "King of Chinese Circus," will stage his signature pieces, such as horsemanship, fire breathing and traditional Chinese calligraphy in an upside-down position.
Yu formed his own circus troupe back in 1978 and his troupe of more than 100 performers has toured the world. Yu, who is now 58, once won the Russia Royal Gold Medal at the international circus competition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Russian International Circus.
"Ghost Hand" Wang Baohe from Wuqiao County, north China's Hebei Province, known as the "cradle of Chinese acrobatics," will also perform astonishing tricks.
Shows are staged three times daily at the Huiquan Plaza. Tickets range from 80 yuan (US$12) to 580 yuan. Free admission for children under 1.3 meters.
