Eagles set up giant showdown
PHILADELPHIA'S Brian Westbrook took a short pass 71 yards for the game-clinching touchdown as the Eagles beat hosts Minnesota 26-14 in an NFC wildcard playoff game on Sunday.
Westbrook put the Eagles out of sight with the long run from quarterback Donovan McNabb's screen pass in the fourth quarter.
Philadelphia advanced to the divisional playoff round and will travel to East Rutherford, N.J. to meet defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants on Sunday.
"Donovan got rid of the ball fast and I was there and had big guys downfield blocking for me," running back Westbrook said.
"We weren't able to establish a run (running game) like we needed to but that (play) came just in time."
The Eagles and Giants split their regular-season meetings. New York won at Philadelphia in November and the Eagles returned the favor with a 20-14 victory at Giants Stadium in December to keep their playoff hopes alive.
"It's going to be a tough game up there," said Westbrook of the Giants, who had a first round-bye.
"You know those guys are rested."
Asante Samuel returned an interception 44 yards for another touchdown and David Akers kicked four field goals for the Eagles.
NFL rushing leader Adrian Peterson had both Minnesota touchdowns with scoring runs of 40 and three yards.
Samuel's return of an intercepted Tarvaris Jackson pass in the second quarter pushed the Eagles ahead 16-7.
Peterson responded with his second touchdown five minutes later to set the stage for the fourth-quarter showdown.
Westbrook, bottled up for most of the game, finally broke loose but had a lot of help making it to the end zone.
"My offensive line did a great job down field, wide receivers did a great job down field, my fullback did a great job down field," Westbrook said.
