1-match ban for Snodgrass after misconduct charge
West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass was handed a one-match ban yesterday after being found guilty of misconduct toward UK Anti-Doping officials.
The Football Association announced the Independent Regulatory Commission found Snodgrass guilty of the offence. It is believed the Scotland international, who was not scheduled for a test and didn’t refuse to take it, was abusive to the officials when they visited West Ham’s training ground in February. The 31-year-old was also fined 30,000 pounds (US$39,000) and an FA statement read: “A misconduct charge against Robert Snodgrass has been found proven by the Independent Regulatory Commission. It was alleged that his language and/or behavior toward UK Anti-Doping officials, who were visiting West Ham United’s training ground on February 6, 2019, was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper. The player has been given a one-match suspension, which is not active whilst he considers his right of appeal, and fined £30,000.”
Butt bailed after arrest
The head of Manchester United’s academy Nicky Butt has been bailed by police after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman. Butt, a former United midfielder, was held following reports yesterday that the woman had been assaulted at an address in Hale. The 44-year-old was later released pending further inquiries. A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police were called at around 2pm on April 16, 2019 to reports that a woman had been assaulted at a house on Broadway, Hale. The woman received a small cut to her hand and does not require hospital treatment. A 44-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further inquiries.”
