A fine festival of French culture and art returns
THE Chinese-Franco Croisements Festival is back to town this year with a rich menu of art exhibitions, performances and other activities, presenting the essence of French culture and art.
Two exhibitions at the Shanghai Power Station of Art open the festival, featuring a collection of works by visual artist Christian Boltanski and various works from the Fondation Cartier.
Entitled “Storage Memory,” the exhibition at PSA is a retrospective of Boltanski’s art exploration, striking an emotional resonance by focusing on topics of personal experience, fortune and fate.
Fondation Cartier’s “A Beautiful Elsewhere” showcases some 100 artworks collected over the past 30 years, with a series of pieces from renowned Chinese contemporary artists.
In June, “Homage to Nijinsky” will be staged at the Shanghai Grand Theater. Created by French choreographer Dominique Brun, the modern ballet commemorates the legendary figure of Russian ballet, his classic works and his career.
Other activities include symposiums and workshops by Dargaud, a French comics publisher, to discuss comics and graphic novel creations with comics fans.
