Ethereal folk music at Qian Shui Wan Center

CORDE Oblique are in town today to perform live at the Qian Shui Wan Culture and Arts Center, the last show of their debut tour in China.

In the past two weeks, they have traveled to Changsha, Nanjing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Tianjin. Shanghai is the last leg of their tour.

Based in Italy, they are a neoclassical band which blends ambient, classical, rock, folk and operatic sounds into a unique experience that is rooted in Mediterranean folk.

Born out of his earlier work “Lupercalia,” Riccardo Prencipe formed Corde Oblique in the mid-2000s, primarily as a solo effort.

Later, he started to hire different supporting artists for his studio creations, primarily orchestral instrumentation and strong female lead vocalists.

Corde Oblique have performed with Bauhaus and Opeth. Musicians from groups such as Anathema, Synaulia, Ion and Daemonia Nymphe have contributed to Corde Oblique’s albums.
