Italian opera gala to enchant in Chenshan Botanical Garden

THE Chenshan Outdoor Radio Concert will make its annual appearance at Chenshan Botanical Garden next Friday.

In its third year, the concert, “Green On the Air — Italian Opera Gala,” will be conducted by Xu Zhong, who is not only a globally known conductor and pianist, but also the art director of the Bellini Orchestra. The Bellini Orchestra and Chorus will take the stage as will four famous singers, including Dimitra Theodossiou, Daniela Schillaci, Roberto Iuliano and Salvo Todaro.

 Italian opera fans will enjoy the classical programs including “Brindisi” from “La Traviata,” “Nessun Dorma” from “Turandot” and “Oh Soave Fanciulla” from “La Boheme.”

Chinese musicians have won a place in the performance, as well. Huang Mengla, a famous violinist who has won the gold medal in the Paganini Violin Competition, will perform the “Variation on Moses Theme” by Paganini.

In order to draw a big audience and make sure the audience can take in the essence of Italian Opera, Chinese subtitles will be shown on the big screen.

The botanical garden provides an enchanting evening environment, where the audience can feel immersed in the performance and even dance to the beat of the music while surrounded by nature.
