Marc Jacobs, Max Mara ranges at new outlets

MARC Jacobs is obviously a lover of holidays. Heart-shaped prints and appliques of different sizes and materials are everywhere in the designer's 2009 resort collection, from gauzy dresses to tapered pants, from satin tops to glittering handbags.

Inspired by Mariah Carey's new song "Love Story,'' the collection features lots of heart-shaped designs and rich jewel tones of magenta, green, deep purple and royal blue.

And, most probably paying homage to Yves Saint Laurent, it also includes Jacob's adapted, loose versions of the late French designer's le smoking outfits.

As is always the case with the designer, smart attention has been paid to details such as trimmings, beadings, ruffles, rivets and chains.

The fancy collection is now available at Marc Jacobs' newly-opened store in Citic Square.

Hong Kong actress Gigi Leung (pictured left) attended the store opening dressed up in a gauze dress of various heart patches from the collection, which was once spotted on Victoria Beckham. A small fashion show was conducted in the store for the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, Max Mara has launched its flagship store in Shanghai at Times Square in Pudong. The two-story store spans an area of about 400 square meters, selling brands including Max Mara, Sportmax, S'Max Mara, Weekend by Max Mara and Sportmax Code.

The store has been designed with a modern art style. Wood and steel are combined to provide customers with an inviting, comfortable shopping environment.
