Save whales
AN AMBITIOUS stunt in Australia has simulated bloody slaughter of whales as Japan begins its annual hunt.
On November 4, the International Fund for Animal Welfare used state-of-the-art technology to replicate the blow of a whale on a giant aqua screen in the water Darling Harbor, Sydney. It was followed by three more fountains of red, showing the blood effects of a whale being harpooned - and calls for an end to the killing.
The stunt was timed ahead of the departure of Japan's whaling fleet to the Southern Ocean here its harpoons will be trained on more than 1,000 whales this season.
Despite the worldwide ban on commercial whaling, Japan hunts whales in Antarctica under the loophole of "scientific whaling."
