FESTIVE traditions old and new are set to bring the season's magic to visitors to the Shanghai Christmas Market in Xintiandi over the coming weeks.
The market at the high-end shopping and entertainment complex has taken European Christmas traditions and combined them with New Year celebrations in China.
Its organizers created the brand Shanghai Christmas Market.
The market is a street bazaar which celebrates the traditional sights, sounds and scents of Christmas, and attracts thousands of local and foreign visitors every Christmas.
Around centerpieces of a giant Christmas tree and Santa Claus' house, decorated market stalls offer traditional, often unique gifts and decorations and a vast array of culinary delights from around the world - including traditional Christmas goodies like gingerbread, cookies and waffles.
Shanghai Christmas Market is sure to bring festive magic for the whole family, say organizers.
Date: December 20-January 1, 2013, 10am-10pm; Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, 10am-midnight
Admission: 20-200 yuan
Venue: Taipingqiao Lake and Park, Xintiandi
