Sleep No More: Immerse yourself

SLEEP No More, possibly the classic immersive theater production, details a story adapted from Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.”

Set in New York in 1939 before World War II, the story happens in a newly opened McKinnon hotel.

It was believed to be cursed. In this five-floor building, which is constructed like a haunted maze, “Sleep No More” will present the audience with an unprecedented experience. With a white mask on their faces, visitors can move freely through the whole story, creating their own journeys through a film noir world.

The concept of immersive theater is originated in the UK in the 19th century. The key is audience interaction and involvement, rather than passively watching the performance.

As an avant-garde of immersive theater producer, British troupe Punchdrunk has improved this style of play and created 16 masterpieces including “Sleep No More,” which won the 2011 Drama Desk Award and Punchdrunk special citations at the 2011 Obie Awards. Come and lose yourself in this special production.
