Start the New Year with some classic Hisaishi nostalgia

FOR music lovers with a sense of nostalgia, a concert of comic songs could be the ideal way to start the new year.

Longmao Band, an elite Chinese orchestra, is coming to Shanghai to perform the classic musical masterpieces of Joe Hisaishi from key animated movies produced by Miyazaki Hayao to take the audience back to the good old days.

The first orchestra to showcase Hisaishi’s works, Longmao Band has wowed audiences of all ages with its exquisite performances.

In Shanghai, the orchestra will illustrate Hisaishi’s representative soundtracks from Hayao’s characteristic animation movies like Totoro from “My Neighbor Totoro,” Kiki from “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” Merry-go-round of Life from “Howl’s Moving Castle,” One Summer’s Day from “Spirited Away” and the most classic one — Castle in the Sky.

As an audiovisual concert, “Castle in the Sky: Joe Hisaishi and Miyazaki Hayao’s masterpieces” will present the audience with Hayao’s nostalgic animation movie scenes and Hisaishi’s captivating music.

It will not only revive the touching memories of older music and movie fans but will help children recognize and appreciate musical talent.
