Stepping up to new season footwear ranges

THE diversity of opinion on Crocs, the iconic plastic shoes that come in a rainbow palette of colors, ranges from love to hate. They are so popular that people from babies to grannies wear them. But they are disowned by the fashion world as a "fashion disaster." There is even a blog called "ihatecrocsdotcom."

Whatever the case, one thing for sure is that the company has been working on delivering as many styles as possible over the years to make the original boating shoes both comfy and fashionable.

This summer, it has launched Crocs with heels or wedges, including the 3-inch (7.6 centimeter) "Hanalei" wedges with brightly colored cotton canvas upper, and the lighweight, open-toe "Havana" sandals available in berry, purple and navy blue.

The "Malindi Leopard" collection, as the name indicates, features ballet-style flats in ultra chic gold and pink leopard prints.

The "Santa Cruz" are designed for those who love the combination of canvas and colorful stripes.

Another Hollywood stars' favorite shoe brand, UGG Australia, has also evolved from its boots origin to launch its largest spring/summer collection.

The "Comfort and Resort Mid" collections combine lush materials like soft leathers, suede straps, cushy footbeds and sheepskin. Styles range from the "Morocco," a gladiator inspired sandal, to the "Napoule," a mid-wedge slip-on.

The new "Comfort Wedge" collection features a mid height cork wedge with suede straps. Sassy styles and bright colors like violet, coral and Caribbean blue keep this collection fashionable and sophisticated.

UGG Australia also introduces rain boot collections for both women and kids.

Wellingtons-inspired rubber boots come in various combinations of bright colors, stripes and patterns and the kid's styles match a mommy version.
