The JZ Festival Shanghai

AS the largest and longest running music and cultural festival in the city, the JZ Festival Shanghai is a platform for both international and Chinese jazz artists. During the event, the city will host performances in different commercial areas downtown.

The largest event of the festival - and sure to be a highlight - "Green Note" jazz parties will be held in Expo Park on October 20 to 21. Against the backdrop of beautiful riverside views, eight stages will feature R&B, soul, funk, jazz and hip-hop artists. Performers include American jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, Hong Kong singer-songwriter Khalil Fong and his team, the British acid jazz phenomenon Incognito, Hong Kong singer Karen Mok and Italian jazz singer Roberta Gambarini - who has been described by fellow Green Note performer Hargrove as possessing "the most fascinating voice in the world." Other on-site activities include open-air movie theaters, a creative market and recreation activities for children. A detailed performance schedule, maps and a transport guide can be found on www.jzfestival.com/2012/.
