Cool stuff on Changle Road
IT'S worth exploring Changle Road between Huashan Road and Fumin Road. The tree-lined road is a blend of 20th century heritage buildings, modern high-rise office towers, apartments and commercial outlets. Take your time to look into the local residents' neighborhood, eat a meal in one of the recommendable restaurants or find some excellent products in the first pure natural body care shop on the Chinese mainland. This section of Changle Road is more residential than the commercial section between Shaanxi Road and Chengdu Road.
Ba Yan Ka La
China mainland's first 100 percent natural skin, body and hair care brand Ba Yan Ka La is taking the city by storm, opening a flagship store on Changle Road. The new store consists of three light-filled rooms staked with products formulated exclusively with 100 percent pure natural essential oils. The brand has a striking design aesthetic. The shop features a wall with different handmade soaps built into it and lit from behind. The new shop carries the entire body and hair collection as well as the brand's first organic coix seed skin-care line.
Ba Yan Ka La's product lines use all-natural ingredients and formulas including vegetable components, essential oils and active herbal elements. All the formulas are free of chemicals such as parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and they are against animal testing.
You can smell, touch and try the products. All of the containers and packing are biodegradable. The company recently established a workshop in the heart of Shangri-La, Yunnan Province, where handmade soaps or candles are made by local Tibetan communities using exclusively local ingredients and knowledge, from wax making to pottery.

Bella Napoli
Guido Esposito's Bella Napoli Changle Road venue is tucked in a lane off the road near Wulumuqi Road and features one of the most beautiful gardens in town. Hailing from the Neapolitan area, Esposito was keen to celebrate the region's culinary traditions and create a home-style menu as in Naples. The owner certainly put his heart into the venue as he has even imported bricks from his hometown to make the authentic pizza oven here. He claims 80 percent of ingredients are imported from Italy as he believes that great ingredients are essential. The 50-seat garden and the 80-seat indoor space creates a nice atmosphere to chill out. The weekday set lunch is 50 yuan (US$7.83) for two courses and a soft drink, or 75 yuan for two courses with a glass of house wine. Typical Neapolitan dishes include buffalo mozzarella with fresh tomato and basil (95 yuan), octopus and potato salad (75 yuan) and linguine with seafood and cherry tomato (90 yuan).
