New and old, ethos and style
THE talent and style of old and new Shanghai comes together on Changde Road, a street famous for its Changde apartments, once the home of renowned author Eileen Chang. The Shanghainese novelist was propelled to notoriety in the 1940s with her book, "Lust, Caution," which she spent many years writing in the eight-story building, formerly named Eddington House. Though she is now gone, and the city has changed, the building stands as a reminder of the culture, ethos and style of the old Shanghai. Not far from the apartments, the Puli Hotel and Spa highlights the new style and class of the city. It draws on the best Shanghai has to offer, the convenience of urban living and an elaborate spa to ensure peace and serenity. Much of the city's foreign influences can also be found on this stretch, including the tempting tastes of Europe.

Take tea at Anantara Spa
Imbued with contemporary elements and flavors of traditional Asian charm, the Puli Hotel & Spa recently opened its doors on Changde Road. In this oasis within the metropolis, Anantara Spa offered its first urban escape in China. Situated on the third floor of the 26-floor property, the spa is contemporary in feel with the use of wood and glass, muted tones and serene lighting in the interior decor. The five treatment suites are fitted with steam and shower rooms adjacent to the hotel's signature infinity pool and fitness center. The spa selection is inspired by the renowned healing properties of tea -- signature treatments draw on the detoxifying powers of green tea, the balancing force of white tea, the health-giving spirit of chrysanthemum tea and the beautifying properties of rose tea. At the end of each body or facial treatment, guests will be encouraged to linger awhile to relax and sip on the brew of their choice.
