Not far from the Madang crowd
Madang Road is located right next to the affluent Xintiandi area. So while it still has a long parade of local stores on one side, a shopping mall was recently built on the other to cater for the shopaholics. The newer shops draw a younger crowd after the latest fashions but you can still find smaller local boutique stores, along with a Mediterranean food store, an affordable soup and sandwich shop and a hip furniture store owned by a local.
Francfranc
This 400-square-meter flagship store of the premium Japanese home-furnishing brand Francfranc sits at the corner of Madang Road and Fuxing Road M. Francfranc has been favored by Asian customers for the past decade due to its "design creates value" concept. The company's first flagship store in China, opened last year, presents an extensive lineup of furniture and accessories, including ingeniously designed ornaments, original tableware, practical and cozy sofas and creative lifestyle products. Designed by Yasumichi Morita, the two-floor outlet offers an extraordinary shopping experience to local customers. Two huge crystal chandeliers custom-made in Japan descend from the ceiling to perfectly combine space and light, presenting a surreal visual effect. As the temperature rises, it's the best time to purchase new seasonal products and update your home by bringing in pretty florals and garden elements.

Amphora
Don't be fooled by its size. In this store you will find the best food and beverages from the Mediterranean - directly imported from Greece. Different types of Greek cheese such as kefalotiri, Kasseri and feta, and dips including tzatziki (yoghurt, cucumber and garlic) and taramosalata can be found along with finger food such as dolmadakia (rice wrapped in vine leaves). Sophia, the owner, makes her own Greek spinach and cheese pies sold at extremely low prices and the must-try homemade meat wrap Greek-style. Greek virgin olive oil, wine made from the best grapes and ouzo can also be found here. This is probably the smallest one, there are many other Amphora shops scattered around the city. Products from other European countries including Swiss chocolate and Italian coffee can also be purchased. Every month selected products are discounted at 40 percent.
