Different perspectives

AS indicated by the title of this category, the 35 diverse movies included are united by different perspectives of protagonists undergoing life struggles.

"Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" follows nine-year-old Oskar Schell on a scavenger hunt in New York City, after finding clues left by his father who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Starring Thomas Horn as Oskar, Tom Hanks as the father and Sandra Bullock as the mother, the film was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Korean movie "Spellbound" was one of the most popular films in Korea in 2011. The debut of director Hwang In-ho, starring Son Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki, this is a horror movie and romantic comedy rolled into one about a magician who falls in love with a woman with supernatural powers.

Computer-animated 3D comedy "Despicable Me" has achieved box office phenomenal success, crossing the US$200 million mark in the US alone.

The film is about super-villain Gru who adopts three girls from an orphanage and wants to shrink and steal the Moon.

A cute film about evil turning over a new leaf, the voice actors' list features big names such as Steve Carell, Jason Segel and Julie Andrews. It was also nominated for many awards, including that of Best Animated Film in the Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

British drama film "My Week with Marilyn," directed by Simon Curtis, depicts the making of Marilyn Monroe's 1957 film "The Prince and the Showgirl." Filmed from the perspective of aspiring filmmaker Colin Clark, who spends a week with Monroe, it documents the tense interactive between Sir Laurence Olivier and the Hollywood icon. Michelle Williams stars as Monroe, and won fourteen awards for her role.

Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy star in French comedy-drama "Untouchables" about a quadriplegic white millionaire and his black carer from a Paris ghetto. Although based on a cliched storyline about how people from different backgrounds change one another's lives, the "Untouchables" is the second most successful French film of all time at the French box office, and was voted the cultural event of 2011.
