Nominees for the Golden Goblet Award

The 16th Shanghai International Film Festival opened yesterday, serving up a feast of cinema from home and abroad for local movie buffs. This week's film section introduces the 14 movies competing for this year's Golden Goblet Award. There's also another 10 works by directors nominated for the Asian New Talent Award.

A Gun & a Ring

LEADING Sri Lankan Tamil director, Lenin M. Sivam, has taken up the task of showcasing the reality of Sri Lanka. A gay man whose lover committed suicide; a widower who left Sri Lanka; and a woman who traveled to Canada to only realize that her fiance had abandoned her. These seemingly unrelated narratives are beautifully interwoven.

I Am You
