CHANEL’S ready-to-wear show
Huge sprawling hard drives in large metallic casing and multicolored wires spilling out of myriad machines was the decor for Chanel’s forward-looking “Data Center” ready-to-wear show.
It set the tone for a technological, futuristic collection that riffed on the vivid colors of the cables in the backdrop. The signature tweed skirt suits opened the show, with two models in robotic masks and galactic white paratrooper boots. The exploration of the house DNA led on to youthful styles, that were opened up and airy on models in hip-hop-style caps.
Strongest Chloe collection
It was the strongest Chloe collection in seasons for British designer Clare Waight Keller who worked her feminine magic on 1970s styles for the spring-summer show.
Loose silk silhouettes were as airy and bright as the luminous, lofty ceiling inside the Grand Palais show venue. Culotte jumpsuits, 1970s bells sleeves, stylish center partings and voluminous floor sweeping silk dresses that fanned out dramatically at the hem captured — with subtlety — Waight Keller’s go-to era of the bohemian.
Optical plays of lines and interlocking hoop motifs gave this collection a contagious energy that really felt like spring was in the air. The dexterous fusion of sporty styles that endowed the 44-look display a contemporary vibe was what made it special.
Dream-like fashion voyage
The wild, rugged magic of the Scottish Shetland Islands was conjured up by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen’s typically dream-like fashion voyage.
Models sporting narrow gossamer fine Shetland Lace dresses walked slowly down the runway tapestry of an isolated barren island.
Leather harnesses holding jingle bells, featured motifs of cockle shells, spider webs and ocean waves evoked the local traditions of the ancient archipelago.
Taroc-like colors give cosmic edge
“Inglourious Basterds” star Diane Kruger posed for pictures ahead of Elie Saab, a show that was notable for featuring influential models such as Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid.
Stars and vivid taroc-like colors gave the 54-piece collection a cosmic edge, reflected in the multicolored stardust runway decor. The vavavoom, cinched-waisted Saab DNA was, of course, there but voluminous black leather waistcoats and black leather belts gave this display a rebellious side.
