360 sees smartphone sales to rise
360 Technology said its smartphone sales will still “grow” this year, despite lower sales in the domestic market, Shanghai Daily learned yesterday.
It has launched a new flagship model, the N7 Pro, featuring quad-camera, artificial intelligence and “bank-level” security. A unique feature in security is “multiple safety methods” covering facial recognition and a made-to-order security chip offered by Gouxin Micro.
The chip’s security level is similar to “bank level,” 360 claimed.
In 2018, sales of 360 smartphones are set to grow 10 to 20 percent from last year’s 5 million units, Li Kaixin, president of 360’s mobile business said.
Comparatively, 105 million smartphones were sold in China in the second quarter, down 5.9 percent year over year, researcher IDC said.
“We will become the leader of the second-tier players (besides top vendors Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi) and wait for further opportunities,” Li said.
The country’s biggest online security firm is a relatively new player in the smartphone industry.
