City launches its first public welfare app
HOW do you save yourself if fire breaks out in the bus you're traveling in? And what should you do if your car goes into a river? Answers can be found through China's first non-commercial smartphone app "Shiwan huoji" (Great Urgency), launched for "119 Fire Prevention Week," that started on Friday.
The app offers safety tips for emergency situations by creating an escape game to simulate scenarios such as fire and drowning. People who download the app also receive a present - an "escape kit" that includes a torch and rope cutter.
The app is co-developed by Shanghai Fire Control Bureau, Xinhua News Agency Shanghai Bureau, Shanghai Committee of China Youth League and Sino Life Shanghai. At the moment, it is only available on the Android platform.
