‘Going back to TV’ for young users

Young consumers are going “back to TV” because of “intelligent functions, high quality content and various services” offered by Internet Protocol TV, an industry report said yesterday.

In China, over 200 million family users have subscribed to IPTV by August, and TV is still an entertainment center, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said.

In 2018, 92.3 percent of families have access to video content every week, up 2.8 percent from that of 2017. IPTV is still one of the major choices for young consumers. Around 41.2 percent of IPTV users are people born after 1980, which means young people are going “back to TV,” said an industry report released by NielsenCC Data and Group M.

Consumers need “intelligent functions, high quality content and various services” on IPTV, including games, music, e-commerce and being able to link with other smart home devices, said Zhang Yu, chairman and CEO of NielsenCC Data.
