Tie-up to stream video
Samsung and Tencent will partner to stream video on TV to target high-end consumer groups, Shanghai Daily learned yesterday.
Under the partnership, Tencent鈥檚 high-definition video content can be played under 鈥渂est performance鈥 condition on Samsung TV models, which cost from 50,000 yuan (US$7,350) upwards, both companies said in Shanghai.
鈥淧eople need upgraded experience in the living room, including both hardware and software,鈥 said Liao Junfeng, general manager of Samsung Electronics Shanghai.
Shanghai is one of the most important regional markets for high-end TV vendors, including Samsung and Sony.
Samsung and Tencent have formed a global artificial intelligence alliance to compete against Google and Apple, media reported recently.
