90 Chinese artists shine as guests of honor at grand Paris Art Fair
PAINTINGS, sculptures, photographs and art installations by Chinese artists took the stage at the Paris Art Fair 2014. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations established between China and France, the fair features China as its guest of honor.
Ten galleries in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong presented artworks by 90 Chinese contemporary artists under the grand dome of Grand Palais. Eye-catching works include paintings by Yue Minjun, Zhu Dequn and France-based artist Zhao Wuji, and sculptures by Wang Keping. Artist Li Wei stunned the audience by dressing as an astronaut, performing gravity-defying stunts.
Apart from the exhibitions, a panel discussion on the opening day was titled “Art in China today — What will the future hold?” Renowned critic Karen Smith and collector Uli Sigg attended.
Paris Art Fair ends today.
