鈥楢n artistic look at 鈥楾he Art of War鈥
“ADVANCE through retreat” is a stratagem elaborated in the Chinese military treatise “The Art of War.” But curator Martina Koeppel-Yang chose it as the theme for an art exhibition.
Attributed to Sun Zi, a general who lived in the 6th century BC, “The Art of War” was the most important book on military strategy of its time. It has influenced Eastern and Western military and business tactics to the present day.
For the curator, the same is true for artistic production in China. The exhibition aims to look at media from a different angle. For example, Zheng Guogu and Yangjiang group’s rediscovery of traditions brings contemporary Chinese art forward.
The exhibition runs through August 3 at Rockbund Art Musuem.
