Colorful oil portraits add light to summer

VENEZUELAN artist, painter and sculptor Carlos J. Tirado Yepes Carlos’ colorful oil paintings will bring light to the Shanghai summer this month in his solo exhibition at Timantti Lounge.

As the art director and chief artist of Miami Art center, Carlos is remarkable at his strong personal style on the basis of the Neo-pop art and abstract painting. Aside from some personal art exhibitions, he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions like major art exhibitions in Shanghai and New York, and London and Miami Biennial exhibitions. This exhibition displays his famous abstract paintings. Each one exists as a part of himself and represents his feeling at a certain moment. All the paintings possess specific emotions.

Carlos’s artwork reflects the aspects and stages of “seek the light” with a specific mental state.

“Life is a long process to seek the light and my creation is to record those living light searching moments. The black trace on each painting is where the light originated, and other colors scattered. But there is no white, because no one is absolutely pure in the world. Color or people change the color of themselves to seek the only light in the world,” said Carlos.

Carlos believes art is the expression at a specific time of one’s life. His paintings are generally named in a split second.

Impressed with Picasso’s changeable painting style and freely creative spirit, Carlos insists creation is important to art, that afflatus comes after creation. Hailing from a tropical zone, Carlos has high perceptivity of color, and adept in color transition and conversion.

The exhibition “Cross,” collaborated with Lanyee Space, runs through July 25.
