French speakers gather for exhibit of Belgian artists
THIS month, the French Alliance of Shanghai (www.afshanghai.org) in Hongkou District is presenting an original exhibition at its office at 297 Wusong Road entitled La Jeune Création Belge (Young Belgian Talents), displaying 70 works from 14 artists through March 31. After an exhibition in 2011 at Shanghai Hongqiao Contemporary Art Museum, Belgian curator Antonio Nardone reached out to the alliance and was given a chance for more exposure for the Belgian artists during the Festival de la Francophonie.
The opening on Thursday was attended by many local French speakers, including Emmanuel Lenain, general consul of France in Shanghai; Anna Mattei, vice consul of Switzerland for Culture, Press and Education; Christophe Cardon, consul of Belgium in Shanghai; Andrea Clark-Grignon, consul of Canada in charge of the Service of the Foreign Affaire and of the Diplomatie; and Pascale Delpeche and Emilie Pan, both directors of Alliance Francaise in Shanghai.
