Jamaica - Policeman heist arrest
A Jamaican policeman has been arrested and charged over the armed robbery of gold bars valued at US$537,000.
Detectives with an elite police unit, dubbed the Flying Squad, alleged Tuesday that Constable Dane Grant and four accomplices conspired to rob a businessman of a stack of gold bars in Jamaica's capital in December.
Police Superintendent Cornwall "Bigga" Ford says the altercation led to a shootout in downtown Kingston that killed one robber and wounded another.
Grant and other suspects have been charged with robbery, conspiracy, illegal possession of a gun and shooting with intent. Ford praised detectives, saying it is a "very challenging case."
