Love story delves into different cultures
THE romantic film “Beijing & New York” tells a transcontinental love story. Directed by Rain Li, it opened on Friday.
Taiwan supermodel and actress Lin Chi-ling stars as a Chinese woman who travels to New York in pursuit of the American dream while her first love stays in Beijing to follow a more traditional path. The film also stars Liu Ye, Guan Shuying and Richard DuKlerk. Its cinematographer Christopher Doyle is known as “a poet behind the camera.”
“The film depicts the magic and challenges of love, as well as the distinctive differences between Western and Eastern cultures,” Li says.
Li understands both cultures as she was raised in Beijing and studied in Britain.
