Postcard-sized ‘secret’ works done by world-class artists
THE annual original “secret” art exhibition and sale at Royal College of Art (RCA) in London, United Kingdom, starts on Wednesday with around 2,900 postcard-size artworks on display.
More than 1,000 world-class artists, designers and illustrators, along with promising RCA graduates, exert their imagination and creativity at the weeklong exhibition Stewarts Law RCA Secret. Big names include British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare, painter Paula Rego, English photographer David Bailey, musician Jarvis Cocker, architect Zaha Hadid, and fashion designer Paul Smith and Christopher Bailey.
All the postcards are for sale on the last day with a single price of 50 pounds (US$83). Each postcard is signed on the back so buyers should have a sharp eye to spot those by master artists. Still, it is quite a bargain, compared with those of their works with marked prices.
All the proceeds go to support art students in their studies at RCA.
