Shanghai - Exhibition doesn’t let boundaries interfere
AN exhibition running at Minsheng Art Museum through February 22, created by Yangjiang Group, does not have problems with boundaries — they don’t know any.
Established by artists Zheng Guogu, Chen Zaiyan and Sun Qinglin in 2002 in Guangzhou, Yangjiang Group’s practice covers a wide range of media, including calligraphy, painting, photography, video, mixed media, large installation, architecture and performance. Their exhibition includes nine art projects: Calligraphy works on sale at street stalls; an installation juxtaposes a banana and traditional Cantonese music; sugarcane hacking is conducted together with activities as elegant and highbrow as wine tasting and tea tasting.
Also, a studio is under constant construction and demolition and life itself becomes an integral part of their art.
