Shanghai - Installations on show

INTERNATIONALLY renowned curator Fang Zhenning has brought together work by architects and artists Wang Yun, Wei Chunyu, Shao Weiping, Xu Dongliang and Tao Na for an exhibition entitled "Originaire" at Xintiandi.

Five installations are on display at Shanghai Xintiandi Taipinghu Park and Xintiandi Style.

These seek to interpret correlative architecture culture with a style of minimalism and illuminate Chinese abstract thinking and philosophical speculation in a poetic way, say organizers.

Among highlights is a work entitled "Square Garden" created by Wang Yun. This shows a matrix composed of 36 cubes, each with a mirrored stainless steel plate on the top and different compositions of holes.

Another highlight is "Palace in the Sky" created by Tao Na. A representation of a palace in the heaven, it consists of three overlaying layers of views: the floor plan of the Forbidden Palace; the surface of Mars and the galaxy.
