Shanghai - One-woman photo exhibit shows nation’s beauty, helps heal kids
A photography exhibition by former Shanghai Charity Foundation Vice President Yu Huiwen kicked off at the China Art Palace on Tuesday.
Following a week long display in Beijing’s National Art Museum of China, the Shanghai exhibition runs through November 15 and showcases 75 photos focusing on China’s landscapes, urban scenes, animals and plants.
Highlights include several breathtaking, large photos captured on the Himalaya Mountains and Namjag Barwa Peak in Tibetan Autonomous Region by the nearly 70-year-old woman in the last six years.
Fan Di’an, president of National Art Museum of China, said “these photos shot with a grand vision and in a new angle showed the passion for nature of the photographer.”
Yu also used patterns from her micro-photography to create fashionable clothes, which she wore at the opening ceremony.
After the show, she will auction part of the exhibits to fund a charity for curing minority children in remote Chinese regions who have congenital heart disease.
“I had photographed a hand of a kid with congenial heart disease before and after the surgery, its color changed sharply from purple to normal pink, very impressive,” Yu said.
“I hope my photos will nurture people’s hearts and sprinkle hopes for these children.”
