Still making a splash
ACADEMY award-winning composer and music director Tan Dun recently announced the beginning of the new season of his water music performance “Water Heavens” this year at his theater in Zhujiajiao, Shanghai’s Qingpu District.
The stage show combines Bach works with monks reciting sutras, a string quartet with the Chinese pipa, tap dancing with hip pop beats. It is now staged every Saturday night at Tan’s Water Heavens performing stage in the water town. Special shows with creative plays of water music will be performed from time to time this year.
Tan was reappointed as Goodwill Ambassador for UNESCO on World Water Day, which fell on March 21.
