United Kingdom - Queen portrait charge
A man was charged on Friday after a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ralph Heimans, commissioned to mark her 60 years on the throne, was defaced on Thursday at London's Westminster Abbey.
Electrician Tim Haries, 41, of Doncaster in northern England, was charged with criminal damage over 5,000 euro (US$7,850), said police.
Protest group Fathers4Justice, which campaigns for equal access rights for divorced fathers, said Haries was a member. It did not endorse the protest.
