A Thanksgiving feast you'll be grateful for

SEVERAL Shanghai eateries recognize the importance of good food for getting into the Thanksgiving spirit - here are our picks.
In a nod to the tried and true, Malone's Thanksgiving menu hasn't changed from the first time they offered it as they always sell out within a few days. Mostly it's Americans and Canadians who miss their "little bit of home," Malone's group marketing and entertainment director Paul Granville said.
On November 25, parties of 10 or more can have a whole turkey and a ham served at the table to carve themselves along with all the side dishes, while parties of 10 or less can have a plated version. Both options include a glass of red or white wine per person.
Menu highlights include: smoked salmon salad, cognac chicken consomm??, turkey stuffing, baked yams with brown sugar syrup, garlic mashed potato and pumpkin pie.
The cost is 300 yuan (US$45) per person.
If you're after a Thanksgiving dinner with a twist, try Mexican restaurant Maya on November 25, where they will be serving some spicier versions of certain traditional elements.
Menu highlights include: pumpkin soup with chorizo and roasted pepita, achiote roasted turkey with mole-style gravy, chorizo and cornbread stuffing with roasted mushrooms, chipotle cream corn mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie with cinnamon ice cream.
The main course will be served with a glass of Buffalo Grove Cabernet Sauvignon or a glass of Red Sangria. The cost is 295 yuan per person.
Or head down to any of the Canadian-owned Big Bamboo venues, where they usually cater to American and Canadian groups, with quite a few Brits getting involved in the festivities as well.
On November 25 they will offer several Thanksgiving options: a three-course sit-down meal, a whole turkey to feed 10 with or without the trimmings for takeaway or delivery, and there is also the option of bookings for parties of 10 people.
Menu highlights include Caesar salad, roast potatoes and vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.
The course sit-down meal is also served with a glass of house wine.
Cost: Three-course set meal, costing 180 yuan for adults and 90 yuan for children, Whole turkey (feeds 10) costs 1,000 yuan, or 1,400 yuan with all the trimmings.
For groups of 10, a whole turkey you can carve at the table, plus all the other courses for 180 yuan per person.
