Asia's growing appetite for halal food

THERE is high potential for developing and promoting halal products in the global market, especially in Asia where 66 percent of the world's Muslim population live.

Due to its competitive advantage in labor and the increasing acceptance of halal food among non-Muslims, Asia emerges as a center for halal standardization, testing, production and trade. The Chinese halal industry is expected to play an important role in the development of this industry.

In response to exhibitors' interest, SIAL China 2010 will build a halal path through the show. It is a valuable tool helping visitors identify halal food on offer.
