THERE'S nothing better on a hot summer's day than downing a refreshing and tasty beer. And while Shanghai has no shortage of pubs and bars where you can enjoy a wide array of tipples from around the world, some local shops and supermarkets also offer a fine choice of domestic and imported beers for you to enjoy at home.
Carrefour has an impressive selection of beers, where good prices and various brands are offered. Bottles range from 275ml to 700ml, with prices from 1.3 yuan (20 US cents) to 25 yuan. Discounts are available on some domestic brands when four bottles are purchased at the same time.
Renowned as a place to find many imported food and drink products, City Shop at Westgate Mall on Nanjing Road W. provides a great selection of beers at a slightly higher price. They have a dazzling range of more than 50 brands of imported beer.
