City karaoke chains hitting the right note
TALENT shows have captured the public imagination in recent years around the globe - whether it's "Britain's Got Talent," "America's Got Talent" or "China's Got Talent."
So do you think you've got what it takes in the talent stakes?
Singing is ever-popular on these shows. Everyone can sing to some extent - whether a top diva or an elderly neighbor humming away while taking care of their flowers.
In China, karaoke is one of the most popular forms of entertainment. There is a Chinese saying that talent is found among the people. Mindful of this, karaoke is a perfect way to hone your talent. So if you're gifted and full of enthusiasm, maybe your hours spent at karaoke could see you become the next Paul Potts or Susan Boyle.
Here are some city options.
Haoledi KTV
Founded in Taiwan in 1993, Haoledi entered the Shanghai market in 1998. It now has more than 30 branches in the city and is a popular option with young people.
It has eight kinds of rooms of different sizes and with different facilities - from the smallest Mini Box for two to three people to the Broadway/Grammy Box with bars and a dance floor which can hold a company department for its party night.
Haoledi outlets are equipped with high-end and professional stereo equipment, allowing guests to adjust tones, microphone effects and create background sounds through the touch screen.
Prices vary depending on the time and room types. While evenings and weekends prices are usually higher, it's still at the middling level among big karaoke brands in the city.
Haoledi may be the first karaoke chain in the country to charge by the hour instead of the number of songs.
