Creating global players based on oriental philosophy

SHANGHAI International Studies University (SISU) has been formally awarded its MBA program by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education of China.

Drawing on the strength of more than 60 years' foreign languages and cross-cultural instruction, rich experience in comprehensive talent cultivation, as well as solid and creative platform for global talent education, the SISU MBA aims at cultivating a new generation of global elites on the basis of oriental philosophy. These elites are expected to have distinct and sustainable competencies in:

? High English proficiency, with some acquiring good command of a second foreign language;

? Open-mindedness, global mindset and a capacity to meet cross-cultural challenges with understanding of the delicate nuances of global business;

? Integrating business knowledge with real-world experience;

? Strict compliance with business ethics and professionalism.

Global thinking

The MBA program aims at helping students acquire business knowledge, as well as developing global thinking ability, cross-cultural sensibility and executive skills. There are pre-courses at the threshold of programs to prepare students for the MBA learning experience. Core business courses help students understand the different functions and industries of business organizations.

In the first academic year, students are able to attend different courses and lectures to develop their inter-personal skills and cross-cultural communication abilities.

In the second academic year, based on the concept of integration, practical use and global experience, the program will help students apply what they have learned in class to the real business world, integrating functional knowledge with general business backgrounds. Besides, students are able to enrich their overseas experience by attending exchange programs.

Spectrum of electives

In the second academic year, students can choose a spectrum of electives, ranging from international integrated marketing and public relations, global fashion and luxury management, international finance and account management, international business management to cross-cultural management.

Sharing knowledge

The center encourages MBA students to devote themselves to sharing knowledge and experience with classmates, both in class and through group activities. Adequate preparation, listening carefully to lectures and taking an active role in activities, while devoting your time and energy, can lead to satisfying results.

Teaching activity

Meanwhile, MBA teaching staff will adopt a variety of appropriate teaching methods tailored to the needs of courses. Therefore, students can experience different teaching methods such as lectures, case analysis, group homework and on-site visits.
