Extreme games promise thrills, chills and spills

THE Kia World Extreme Games, one of the world’s biggest extreme sporting events, will take place in Shanghai for the eighth year from April 30 to May 3.

Nearly 200 athletes from almost 30 countries and regions will compete in BMX freestyle, aggressive in-line, skateboarding, speed climbing and freestyle motocross events. Athletes include big names like Vince Byron, Andy MacDonald, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Mitchell Brusco, the Yasutoko brothers and Tom Schaar.

This year’s competition includes freestyle moto X ramp-to-ramp tricks and the spectacular extreme vert jam by six BMX masters.

Two performance shows are added this year — aggressive in-line on mini mega ramp and kick scooter on a street course.
