From outrageous to sensorial

My personal style: I grew up in the luxury biz and I love to dress comfortable, carefree, but with a high note touch. It could be some outrageous accessory, like my lucky necklace (which weighs about 2kg alone). I also have lucky charms from all over the world, like a Chinese dragon-dog in jade, a Saint Giorgio Russian antique gold enamel pendant, a Napolitan lucky horn in gold and pearls ... and the most important, the tree of life pendant made by hand by my father Anselmo. I also have a color code for certain days: red for Wednesday, blue for Thursday, green for Friday. That is a rule.

I usually shop around the globe. I’m a designer, I like original, characteristic, different things. When I travel, I discover high-quality stores that are not famous. I like mixing different cultural elements together. Like hand made silver belt buckles from Italy, fancy linen shirts from Thailand, samurai pants from Japan, python cowboy boots from Texas, tailor-made jackets from Como, Italy. I like being a global shopper. It is a lot of fun.

If I have to limit where I shop to one place, it would be Camiceria di Como from my friend Davide Colombo. He runs a studio which satisfies all my crazy requests for made-to-order pieces. It is bespoke with authentic details, everything a creative mind wants.

The designers I most admire for apparel are: Martin Margiela for the minimal, plus geek way. And Giorgo Armani for the simplicity, elegance and comfort. For shoes I wear a lot of Cesare Paciotti, Dolce & Gabbana and Converse All Star.

The most interesting outfit of mine: I have a lot of original looks I guess, but I like a lot to wear white tailor-made linen jackets, blue slim-fit T-shirt, samurai pants, crocodile Dolce & Gabbana shoes, red socks, Loewe grey butterfly scarf and matching jewelry.

My best recent purchases are a red/white checker shirt with red cashmere sweater for my Wednesday wear, blue/white checker shirt with blue cashmere sweater for my Thursday wear. All tailor made by Camiceria di Como.

The next fashion purchase will be the new Converse All Star shoes.

My signature perfume: Comme des Garcons series 3: Kyoto and Zagorsk mixed together.

My favorite book: Alessandro Baricco’s “Novecento. Un Monologo.” It was made into the movie “The Legend of 1900” by Giuseppe Tornatore. Monica Bertini

My personal style is very sensorial: I love to wear things which are soothing for the skin and enchanting to the eye, so I started to experiment with cashmere — which I love — and co-created a line of deluxe multifuncional pure cashmere wrap-around garments ideal for both private lounging and partying, and perfect for traveling.

For special occasions I love to wear my 1930s vintage qipao — (a similar style to those in the film “In the Mood for Love”) tailor-made into special Louis XVI coats.

The best outfit is a 2001 Comme des Gançon, got in their state-of-the-art New York store, an embracing asymmetric woven thick coat (snake shaped). Perfect with tight leather pants and Paciotti stilettos.

I absorb fashion trends through travel and magazines, I love to observe, catching up micro and macro trends. Inspiration feeds creativity. Past and present always merge. Reviving each trend. 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, and so on...

Whenever in Milan, I love shopping (or simply getting inspiration) in 10 Corso Como and Spazio Rossana Orlandi — absolute trend-hubs — as much as I love Harvey Nichols, Liberty or Dover Market when in London. I also adore various vintage stores. My best shopping ever: original 1930s qipao discovered in Shanghai.

My favorite designer is Junya Watanabe. He plays with shapes as sculpting the fabric.

Over eight years in Shanghai, what really impressed me still is its vibrancy, intensity and style. Different and complementary to our polished and highly defined forms. Pure energy.

My style icon is absolutely David Bowie.

I regularly fall in love with different things and start collecting them as I do with dreams: from art jewels (Ornamenti and Sin Sin) to Chinese old boxes, glasses, designer shoes and vintage lamps. Like pictures, objects can freeze moments, journeys, emotions, like precious talismans.

My signature fragrance is Etro.

The last book I read is “Jerusalem,” an amazing cook and lifestyle book from Ottolenghi. It’s a cultural journey into food, spices and historic traditions.

The most memorable place I visited was Fivelements in Bali, built on sacred vibrational land — a total renewal experience.
